The summer of 2022, I studied abroad at the National University of Ireland. While there, I studied sports journalism and single-handedly created two pieces of media. I produced a written story on the history of a local sport - Gaelic football. I also created a video story rich with local interviews that examined the relationship between pub life and the Irish's love of sports. This piece was awarded "Honorable Mention" for "Sports Multimedia Story" at the National Pinnacle College Media Awards in the fall of 2023. Both were published to VikingFusion.com. By learning how to communicate across internal boarders, this experience helped me grow tremendously in my skills as a journalist, editor, as well as my confidence, leadership, and independence. It is an experience I encourage everyone to seek out while they are in college - studying abroad has the ability to change your life forever, and I am forever thankful for my formative time in the beautiful country of Ireland!
