Fashion trends change constantly. They change every year, as well as every season. As the days are getting colder, our shorts are being shipped back home, soon to be replaced by heavy coats and jeans. But how do you know what you should wear and what you shouldn’t when the trends seem to change from year to year? The majority of people find their fashion inspiration from TikTok.

These days, TikTok runs the fashion industry. The most viral influencers are usually those who post “outfit of the day” or compilations of their outfits throughout the week. Most of the time, the influencers list where you can buy the clothing items in the comment section. Most watchers see the video, think the outfit is cute, check to see where it is from, then race to go order it online. This has caused most fall fashion trends this year, creators’ careers sky rocking with every fashion TikTok.

This year it seems like the biggest trends have been clothing that consists of mostly neutral tones, like different shades of brown and white. Booties are also very popular, as well as sweater vests, and big, oversized flannels and jackets. Short tops and mom jeans are also still very trendy for fall this year.

While some might write TikTok off as just being for comedy or memes, it is argued that the app became a huge source of self-expression during the Covid lockdown. Recently, the biggest TikTok stars have even been invited to New York fashion week. This cements the idea that TikTok really has a huge impact on the fashion industry. Many big TikTok stars even partner with fashion brands, stores, and makeup brands, causing their millions of followers to buy what they tell them to buy. Because of this, TikTok and the fashion industry are co-existing hand in hand.
